Symphony of Light

When shadows grow long, I get restless; and when darkness falls, I drive into the night to greet celestial life. I find myself a private spot where I can be bothered only by coyotes. At first, I feel fear as a city dweller, but I look at the stars and let it all go. I surrender and tune into night landscape - it is my canvas, and flashlights are my brushes. I orchestrate a symphony of light while my cameras silently record my fantasies.
................................

…and when I am back to the city, I look at people and wonder how many of them will never venture into the night to witness how beautiful their moonlit planet is.

Funny photo from intense photo shoot

I am lucky enough to have a humongous spare room that I cleared from my arts canvas and easels for the purpose of building a photo studio.

With a background a couple of props and all, it’s enough length to comfortably work with the 24-70 on the full frame. Besides, I do like to get close to things.

Now, there are some instances when I do need to use one more meter that I am short of and that’s when I move into the closet. There is a staircase behind the closet and I was joking that I need to make a hole there in the wall, as my legs do not quite fit in the closet.

That’s how I spent almost 3 hours today. The person who is standing just above me is Heather. She runs Mountain Goat Yoga Center, and she was gracious enough to help with the shoot. So, she was a “choreographer” for the session that is a part of a big project I’ve been working on.

She really needed to be at the same angle with the camera to help the actor with proper alignment. So that’s how we spent almost all three 3 hours of shooting. The lighting during the shoot was different - it's just facing "inward" snappy.

And yes, I did need to be at the low angle for most of the shots.

I guess it looks funny. My elbows are raw after this shoot and I really need to invest in pads. And I've been fantasizing about “extending the closet” into the hallway above the staircase.

Thank you so much Heather for your invaluable help today, as well for not stepping on me even once.
